Problem

Refurbished hardware is hard to shop for online

Buying a refurbished or gaming laptop involves comparing specs that generic e-commerce templates don't surface well — condition grade, benchmark-relevant components, warranty terms. FactoryBuyo needed a storefront built around how buyers actually make that decision, not a generic product-grid template repurposed for electronics.

Solution

Spec-first browsing and a filtering system built for the category

I built a product data model around the attributes that actually drive a purchase decision for refurbished and gaming hardware — processor tier, GPU, condition grade, warranty length — and designed filtering and comparison around them. The product detail experience foregrounds condition and specs rather than burying them below marketing copy.

Key features

What the platform does

  • Faceted filtering by spec, condition grade, price, and brand
  • Structured product data model built for comparison, not just display
  • PostgreSQL-backed inventory with condition and warranty tracking
  • Conversion-focused product pages emphasizing trust signals
  • Responsive, fast-loading catalog pages

Approach

Development approach

I spent time understanding the actual inventory workflow — how units are graded, priced, and warrantied — before designing the schema, since getting that structure wrong would have meant reworking the whole catalog later. The front end was built as a React application with a Node.js API backed by PostgreSQL, with the filtering UI designed and iterated on directly against real inventory data rather than placeholder content.

Result

A catalog buyers can actually evaluate

The finished platform gives buyers a way to filter and compare refurbished and gaming laptops on the specs that matter, and gives the business a structured inventory system that scales as stock changes daily.
